Although I am retired I still do a few bass charters now and then when I am in Jersey. Here is the misconception novice anglers have concerning striped bass. It is not always live lining! When the water gets warm enough and the bay is on fire absolutely. Chunking in my opinion is more productive and is a calmer way to enjoy our tremendous spring striper run. When the water is cold the bass play with the live bunker. Chunking will out produce live lining in the early spring hands down! Do not get me wrong as live lining is my favorite way to catch stripers. Big difference going out with two or three guys on a private boat than a charter with half the crew having never popped there cherry. Setting up on the anchor and chunking is an age old method of putting bass in the boat. When the bass are busting on top and the time is right live line! The transition from clam to bunker is about to happen now. I would carry both until May. PS If all else fails pull stretch 25 plugs!!!!!!!!!
