Has anyone registered a NY trailer in NJ. The previous owner had it registered with the state of NY. I plan on buying it and registering it in NJ. Is there anything I should make sure I bring or be aware of ? Thanks.

Easiest route is to have him sign over the existing NY title. If there's no title, make sure you get a notarized bill of sale that includes his name, address and the make, model & VIN of the trailer.
Also get the existing NY registration card if he doesn't have a title. That will show he owns it and has the right to sell.
I had some fun with this last year bringing a boat from MI. Trust, better to have the docs than to be told you can't register it.

Remember. You won't get a title for the trailer in nj. I believe the reg acts as the title.
