Fished the morning trip aboard the Marathon Lady.
Unlike NJ party boats reservations are required for all spots so the prime stern spots wee reserved long ago (talking with someone who stated that he reserved his stern spot 6 weeks ago). We were however assigned 2 spots that were 3 & 4 rods holders off the stern on the starboard side. We also requested to be given spinning rods as opposed to the standard heavy conventional set ups. I purchased 6 dozen live shrimp and a block of silversides (spearing) to increase our odds so we didn't have to use the boat squid.
Immediate action with grunts all around the boat. We had drop and reel fishing on both shrimp and silversides. We were able to cull a pair of strawberry grouper, 2 sennets, a lane snapper and dozen or some short yellowtail snapper and a scorpionfish in between grunt bites. Jason also had a beautiful hogfish which was the only fish we kept today.
Two nice mutton and few short muttons, about 10 (3 by one woman who was a regular free lining ballyhoo chunks), 15 or so keeper yellowtail and one cero mackerel were all caught by those in the stern.
Heading home in the morning.
