[Skunk City]

Had no plans yesterday so I spent it in the water. A little chilly but had good conditions otherwise, especially some nice clear water. Bounced around by car to a few different spots and it paid off. Bait outfished lures today, with the highlight being a fat 34" female very visibly hitting my shiner near the surface. Best fish of the year for me so far. Quick measurement and back in to get bigger. Had a few smaller males as well to fill out the day. Still haven't had that "lights out " 20 Pike day like we have in past years due to this funky weather, but there's still some time. Some fish porn..

Great fish my friend. It's kinda funny that those little males get freaky with big fat females like that. What if the female doesn't wana play? Does she rip the small males head off? Lol! There's fish to be caught year round! Oh YEA BUDDY!!!!:D

i got skunked after helping my friend with his boat i had a little time so i floated around the 'sludge pit' haha, guys were still ice fishing in the cove while i fished from my boat...i'd bet they caught fish while boats did not. I may have had one break off from a pickerel or pike but it's hard to tell if it was that or i snagged something sharp, it was a clean cut break instantly on hook set.

the small male pike i caught ice fishing last friday looked pretty beat up (most of them) I'm thinking the females mess them up pretty good.
