The open water in upper Barnegate Bay had a couple of guys out looking for flounder today. The key word is "looking". One small outboard was anchored next to the Mantoloking Bridge and two guys were fishing from the public access at the end of Bay Avenue in Bay Head. What the heck? Why not try? I did not see much action however.

A couple of buddies put on the suits and swam around the likely areas about a week ago and saw zero flounder - suspicion was they were still in the mud as the water temp was barely 40*.

Finally started seeing some buds on the trees that bloom early, so it won't be long now.
