Would REALLY like to see the bonus tag be the 24-28" bass.
Instead of seeing them used on cows

Agreed Dan, but anxious to learn if the bonus tag is for your 3rd Keeper (as in past) or for your 2nd. It would be ludicrous if you need to get a 43+"er before NJ can use their tags

My "personal limit" will be 2 fish between 28-36 for the entire year.

From the people I talked to that is not going to happen. The tag should be used for a medium fish and go home with two not three. It was also mentioned that the poundage would be used up too quickly if they made a slot for a small fish. It was mentioned on this site ''we should not ''post pictures of a big pile of dead cow bass. I agree and although I did years ago I believe action pictures and releases make the best pics.

No real angler would want to take home a cow for the table versus two 'smaller' keepers...but the way I see it the new regs are basically forcing guys paying a lot of money to go out saltwater fishing to keep a cow if they catch one. Well, not forcing, but you know what I'm saying. Hopefully most guys can resist keeping the cows like you.

I personally think all game fish should have a slot where basically you can keep however many determined fish in a range from current minimum to a few inches up and then have a range that can never be kept (the 'big' fish) and then open the slot for trophies. I think that's fair to everyone and will help grow monsters in our fisheries, fresh and salt.

The way I see it is everyone is going to spend $2.00 and the state is going to make more money pending the legislation outcome.
If the bonus passes for a second fish 28 and greater prior to catching the big one we all just paid $2 to get what we previousley had for free.
Its NJ, everything revolves around money

What you do get is the state has poundage from the commercial quota and they are going to take the best option to be in compliance with Fisheries Management. We have been paying two bucks for the permit for some time now. The BS about using it for a third fish is crazy. The only people that bought it before wanted three fish. Use it to land two fish. If you are happy with one do not buy it. The slot is not going to happen!!!!!!! Bonus tag=one fish 28'' or better-bet the ranch on it!

Knowing our State, it would probably cost us $3.00 to collect $2.00. I don't think this is a money grab.

It was a money grab. Grabbed the money from the party/charter captains and we are now the only state on the east coast to allow the slaughter of 2 cows per person per day. Great conservation effort by this state. Now we look like the greedy douchebags.
