Me my buddy and pops went upstate lookin for some lake trout, strictly jigging. After a few three pounders my pops hooks into something nice and after a 25 minute fight he lands a nice 31 incher probably about 11 pounds. We were only expecting to catch smaller ones so we were using 4 pound test. Then I lock into something HEAVY!! After a one hour and ten minute fight, that's right one hour and ten minutes of back and forth, my forearms burning, drag screaming, it was finally over and out came this beaut. I would say about 15-20 lbs. On 4 pound tryline coldwater. Today was one of those days that as an angler I dream of. All fish caught jigging phebes in various colors. The ice season isn't quite over yet boys so get out there and if you can make a trip upstate it can pay off big time. http://i1054.photobucket.com/albums/s487/jrock115/Screenshot_2015-03-14-18-32-38-1.png http://i1054.photobucket.com/albums/s487/jrock115/20150314_164904.jpg http://i1054.photobucket.com/albums/s487/jrock115/20150308_142623-1.jpg

Nice fish. Any chance you have a state line class record?

Thanks guys, like I said it was one of those days I will never forget. Briansnat that's a good question about the state line record but I don't know how I could prove it anyway. In my eyes it is good enough for my own self to know what it took to reel in that fish on such light line. Nothing against being put in the books at all, just doesn't bother me if I did break the record and am not in the books.

Actually stevejordan I caught the big guy about 30 feet down in 90 fow. I was jigging a foot off bottom and was gonna move from that particular hole but instead of just reeling up I reeled in about five feet stopped and jigged a few times. When I got up about sixty feet what woulda been about thirty feet from the hole he smacked my spoon. But we did catch most of our fish in 20-30 feet of water that day including my fathers 11 pounder.
