Tough morning out there today because of a late start. By the time we clear the inlet the wind is really honking and the seas have built to honest 5 footers with a bigger one thrown in every 6 waves or so. Couldn't make it to the spot I wanted in the allotted time, so I pulled the sticks back early to give the group plenty of drift time. The wind is blowing hard enough that it negates the current and we stay in the same spot, maybe sliding a little east. Josh Wald and his buddies picked up a couple of small mahi for dinner, popped off a large King at boatside, and waded through the usual trash fish. Instead of dogfish, we deal with remoras, blur runners, jacks, and file fish. Smooth sailing home with the wind behind us. Tried out a Tony Maja spoon on a down rigger, but no takers today.
