Round Valley is definitely frozen. I talked to two fishermen who cut through 14 inches of ice at the swimming beach but caught the skunk today. Very few guys out on the reservoir but a couple of tents were up near the first cove. Enjoy the pics. There will be a few more coming.

Here's a few more pics for those of you who haven't been out in awhile. I hope this answers some questions about if R.V. is iced over. The lakes and reservoirs might not get the preseason trout spread out too much if this cold lasts. Walpack was supposedly -20 F last night without any wind chill. Ouch!

Awesome, I'd like to take a shot at icing a lake trout. Has anyone here done it here in nj?

Easy task my friend! Doesn't take much effort to ice a Laker at the Valley this time of year.

Well if they're in their late fall spots waiting for me to jig them, I'm about to go cross some laker eyes!

Whatever you do, don't complicate things! Bring a lot of silvery stuff. It does not take much to find them. And remember to keep all the small fish. This is a very large body of water lacking trophies. It's a damn shame if you ask me.

I hear you man, arty and I have been culling that place all season of small keeper lake trout, I try to tell everyone keep all the small keepers, give them away if you don't want them yourself. State stocked way too many in there before they realized they were spawning very very successfully is my understanding. They are tasty and tons of people would kill for fresh fish from such a clean lake and it's the only way we can turn that place into a trophy laker water.
I'll go after them the same way I've done it from the boat. Silver spoony type stuff, blades, tiny jigs whatever.

In fact after day light savings gives me that extra hour of daylight after work I'll get over there after work during the week and pound it out. Anyone down? I can be there around 3. Daylight savings will give us almost till 7 to fish decent daylight.
