Sorry to report that our Fishing Community has suffered another loss. Just got a call that Capt Jim McFarland passed away last night at home from an apparent Heart Attack. I fished with Jim for over 25 years on the Big Mac. Fair Seas and God's Speed Capt.

That is awful news. I fished with him this May for the first time and had a great trip with cod and haddock. My condolences to his family and friends. Very sad to hear this

Bob, sorry about having to be the bearer of this sad news this AM and was hoping you would post here as I have not been on in quote a while. I got the call last night from my son who is very good friends with Jim Jr and went to his house today. It was not the same without Captain Jim in his chair. We spoke weekly and he will be missed. Always a good guy who helped me out on those tough days. Out boats were on the same dock and our sons were college room mates. I will miss him dearly and will always be grateful to my friend Jim. Thanks for posting on here because I have not been to this site in a year now.
We will miss his colorful posts and pictures of Stellwagen Bank cod, pollock and haddock.

Never met Captain Jim but had many convesations with him over the phone trying to help him with the site and some computer issues. You can always get a sense of who people are when you talk with them in private.
He'd start with an appology for bothering me but truth be told it was never a bother. I actually looked forward to his calls. He was always polite, glass was always half full, not empty and he'd never miss an opportunity to weave in a great fishing story. A true gentleman that genuinley loved what he did. Not many people you can say that about.
Rip Captain Jim. Condolences to his family and friends.

Very saddened to see this post. Fished with Capt. Jim on the Big Mac and as good of a charter boat Captain as he was he was a better man. One of the nicest guys anyone will ever meet. Loved his posts, couldn't ask for a more sincere and polite guy, he'll be surely missed by many. My heartfelt condolences to Jim's family and friends.....may he rest in eternal peace.
