Hello all,

First thanks everyone who gave me advise on hermit crabs, ended up scratching the idea and got 24 white legs for the day, and boy I'm glad I did.

I headed out on my favorite Party Boat for my first blackfish trip ever.

It was a cold, windy, not so productive day. I caught 6 fish in total with only 2 being keepers. The two I got counted one being around 4-5lbs and the other weighing in at 13lbs.

I fear I may be hooked on blackfishing now, it's a challenging game and really tests a mans patients and willingness to learn.

Good move picking up the whites!
Shit, 13lb fish for you 1st pb trip!!!!...that's awesome!
I'm figuring you won the pool...

Watch the guys who are catching fish, do what they do...blackfishing is a never ending learing experience...some days, breaid, some mono...someday light sinker, someday go heavy...someday move the bait, somedays keep still while he picks at your bait till it drives you nuts to swing on him....someday greens, somedays whites...someday single hook, someday snafu...etc...etc...etc.

1 rule of thumb ---- Always fish with some slack in your line.

Again congrats on a beautiful fish.

Congrats on 13 pounder. Very impressive catch for your first blackfish trip. Guys have been fishing all there lives for blackfish without catching a double digit.

Nice to see that today. I was standing right next to you when you caught it on the J2 so I can attest to the size. Seems like them white legers do catch the bigger fish (except when I use them).

Congrats and welcome to the club, a 13 pounder on your first trip is impressive! The white leggers have been the ticket lately, keep up the good work.

Nice to see you out there, I've seen you many times out fluking on the J2 over the years. I must say that Kenny really helped me out showing me what rig and way to present the crab would help entice a bite. The crew of the J2 is the reason I always go out on them over other boats.

Thanks all for the nice words, feels good to catch a big one! If only it was like this every time ;) I've been chasing that 10lb + fluke for 20 years now!
