Drifting Eels for Fall Stripers question

I was out Saturday off of Mantaloking and Bayhead... tons of marks and bait but the fish weren't biting. The few boats that were out there were saying same thing. I really want to try drifting live Eels once the water clears up. Am I wasting my time? My thought was to ride around until I found solid marks and put down an Eel and drift it close to the bottom. Any feedback on this method would be great... not sure if it's worth the effort or not. I see a lot about doing this at night during the summer, but not during the day in the Fall..

Eels work great in fall my opinionto late now be better off jiging and teasers matching the hatch but its getting col!

I just pulled my boat which I dock in the Manasquan River. I've been fishing this area for 30 years. All the party boats quit bass fishing last week and that's good enough for me. I was out on 12/1 and the little bass were thick under birds and Wed/Thurs they had some too. Just not worth it in my opinion. As far as eels goes I've always caught my late fall stripers trolling or jigging. Some days they just don't bite. Maybe that big swell on Sat had something to do with it. Time for tog for me :D

The standard method for catching stripers in the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel area is to put an eel right on the bottom. The season is open all Winter in Virginia (closes Dec.15 in MD) and there is the chance to get a really big cow at any time.

You are in the right part of the statem last week lbi was the bite. It was a troll bite and they were keeper size bass.
Who knows what will be around after this blow but you will only know if you try it.
I would dragg eels, jig, throw some shads, and last resort troll.

Eels work great try it. You may not as many. But you could pick out the biggest fish around. If you don't run into doggies

Thanks for the feedback guys... I was ready to call it a season but hooked up with a big fish last week right by the pipe off Mantaloking. Going to give it one more shot once water clears up then haul out.

If you are up north go out to Ambrose channel 65 to 70 ft of water about 2 miles east of Roamer shoal light house there is a hump about 150 off the green can goes up to about 55ft depending on tide. That's what I would do if up north

Are all the green cans numbered? It might take like forever to find that hump with out a number lol
