Launched out of Atlantic Highlands Sat. morning, had a late start, first my fishing buddies were a hour late, then had trouble getting the motor running. Finally headed out of the marina about 9:00.
Found some good bird activity, nice bunker pods, tried jigging diamonds and shad, but couldn't buy a bite. Switch over to trolling Stretch 25's and had a pretty regular bite for about an hour, brought 6 stripers into the boat, only 1 big enough to keep at 31". Had one other at 27", but couldn't find my fish stretcher, so he went back in the the water. The bite turned off, so we headed back to land around 1:00.
Turns out it's a good thing I follow the rules, there was a conservation officer at the marina checking guys out. Asked to climb on the boat (was up on the trailer then), checked out my fish well, measured my one keeper. Very friendly and professional.
Winterized the boat on Sunday....its done for the this year.
