View Full Version : Friday on the Cock Robin

Jimmy in Point Beach

I was lucky enough to get the day off yesterday so naturally I hit the Cock Robin for a bit of striper hunting. The turnout was rather disappointing and I thought I wasn't going to get to fish but Captain Jim did not disappoint and off we went at 6:00 am with seven fares! Thank you Captain!

We were on bunker as soon as we broke the inlet at first light and were able to make some good baits for the livewell. I'm not sure if any bass were landed there but I did see other boats landing them. The small fleet that had gathered broke up shortly thereafter and we headed south.

Once down south we were once again on the bunker, in tight to the beach, and had a steady pick of nice looking bass all day. I did not see any shorts. Capt. Jim had to keep adjusting the boat as it was windy and we couldn't stay on the pods very long and his efforts certainly paid off! I personally had some issues (lol) and landed only one while dropping 3 or 4 more. Guy next to me landed at least 6, keeping only his legal limit, and dropped a few more. It was good fishing again finally!

See the Cock Robin Facebook page for pics and www.cockrobinfishing.com for more info.

Once again I want to thank the crew, Captain Jim and Bill (Reel Nauti), for putting in the effort inspite of little $ reward. You guys are THE BEST!

Gotta give it up to the Captain for taking you guys out. I definitely will put the Cock Robin on my list of go to boats in the future.

Hats off to Captain Jim for sailing with only 7 fares. Not many who would do that.
