View Full Version : Miss Point Pleasant II goes to the graveyard
They dismantled her. I didn't know Capt. Endean and Keller found the wreck of the Lillian in 1958.

I was down there yesterday for a couple of minutes when the reporter was taking pics. Google the Lillian and the story of how Capt Endean found her and tried to keep it a secret its pretty cool.

Always a sad day when a lady goes down that way.....All the folks who fished her, The Memories of great fishing trips past, the Friendships made, all the guys who worked her...I shed a tear for that beautiful lady of her day.

Nicely stated capt Ron.. I feel the same way about old "retired" party/charter boats,, Sadly, nothing is forever.. All the head/charter boats in NY/NJ, and every other port will one day be silent, no longer bringing guests out for a day of fishing.. Sure it happens slowly, and the boats and those that sail and work them are replaced by others, but all those old boats have had long, vibrant "lives" and many many stories to tell.. I find stories like this one sad.. I think about the boats and captains I fished with years ago in Highlands,AH, Belmar, Brielle, Port Jeff, City Island and other ports.. Most are gone, captains passed on, boats sold or scrapped...
It just makes me kind of sad for obvious reasons...bob

Capt. Jack Endean was semi-retired in the late 1990's, running the Cock Robin once a week, usually Wednesdays. He talked about finding the wreck, and that "Kenny" (latter Capt. Ken Keller) knocked a big codfish off the hook while trying to gaff it. Jack was proud that he was PB captain at age 18. Look how young he looks in the picture by the previous poster. When running the Cock Robin, he was still an active captain. After anchoring at the Mud Dump, he would sling chum from the bow, while letting the mates gaff, clear line tangles, and un-hook bluefish. Jack, I sincerely hope that you read this.
Glad to see all the people here knowledgeable of this boat. I liked story on Capt. Jack Endean, Keller and the Lillian and how he tried to keep it a secret.
