We hit the nail on the head when we told you to come down today. The fishing was very good for jumbo porgies and a good amount of nice sea bass. This was an all day bite. Archie Stewart had an 18 inch porgy to beat out many nice sea bass for the pool.
Tomorrow is looking very nice again and the fishing should be good. We will NOT be sailing Saturday nor Sunday with our next trip after tomorrow being Tuesday. It was good to see a lot of regulars down today.
7:00 AM first boat out tomorrow.
Galley open
Thanks Captain George

Before we even hit the first spot the tip of my rod snapped off
Had a nick bout a half inch down and she gave up the gost...Thought I was going to have to spend the day with my back up rod but Richie pulled out his mobile repair kit and fixed me up good as new :)
Thanks dude!

I've never eaten a porgy. Obviously there are a lot of people who love fishing for them, how are they to eat? What other fish would you compare them too taste wise? Those are good size porgies so it's looks like you get a decent fillet off of them. Do they have a lot of bones or no?
Sorry for all the questions but when I was a kid my father used to rave about porgy fishing and the fight they give you pound for pound. Said they were one of the best fighting fish in the ocean in his opinion, again pound for pound. I think he referred to them as shad porgy but not 100% certain. I know when he talked about the bigger ones they used to catch his eyes would absolutely light up! When I was growing up it seemed like the fishery really underwent a decline and we never really fished for them when I was a kid.
Was thinking about giving it a shot but was interested in knowing how good they are on the table. They seem to be all white meat so I would think the answer is they're pretty good but I'd appreciate hearing from Capt. George or some of the other knowledgeable guys who target them.
Thanks in advance.

They are not a strong tasting fish, I make fish cakes out of them, most of the time. Tonight I am going to fry some up.
They are bony another plus is they smoke real good.
