Sloppy start to the day with a steady 20 knot NW blow. Ran out with Micky Rosanno and his crew for sea bass and tog. Did some running until we landed on a good sea bass bite. Everybody went home with a nice bag of fillets.
Found birds working on the steam home where we jigged fish for an hour. Fish were loaded with sea lice which says these are the Montauk fish we been waiting for. Biggest 20 lbs. Had lots of dinks too. Reminded me of last years sand eel bite.
Hopefully this is just the beginning of a long banner fall bass season.
Pictures to follow.

Nice job, great extra effort Capt
Did you get a chance to see what the stripers had in their bellys?
sand eels, bunker, etc?
Appreciate the info, great report and pics.
Thanks

Novice question!!
Fish with sea lice. How do you see them. Are fish eaten anyway or destroyed.
thanks

Sea lice are large and usually located on the outside near the gill plates. Not a reason to discard the catch. They don't affect the fillets.

I had lots of fun on the trip. Thanks captain for putting us on great spots with fish on them. Because of you, i caught my biggest sea bass yet. The stripers at the end put the icing on the cake. Looking forward to coming out again.
