Rowdy crew sailed with Hank & Hunter today on the monger. opted for a late start to let the ocean settle down so we left at 8am. got to the ocean it was not very friendly so before we took off to the eastern ledge of cockolla canyon we looked inshore. Found a giant school of weakies & small blues south of MI. double headers were common just sucks yacan only keep 1 trout for dinner. we kept everybodys 1 weakie & threw back a ton more. sea started to setlle so we started to go offshore, Hank found some really clear warm water on the ay & we did a quick drop to see if porgies or trigs were on this piece but all we found was double header 3lb sea bass as soon as ya hit the bottom......thanks nmfs.
we made our way off set up on the drift started picking a blue here n there & ten boom it was on 3,4,5,6 on at a time just stupid old school fishing. bait n jigs for ginormo gators the kind that eat through jigs & wire leader. everyone caught plenty & were complaining of sore arms! bled the gators & quickly & heavily iced them. meat on these pigs was really nice not overly red at all.
I cannot thank Hank n Hunter enough for this day we had 4 1st time bluefish anglers aboard & they all had a blast. theres a reason why the fishmonger is booked everyday & the effort & customer service is truly top notch.
