We shoved off around 1030 am on the Russian Roulette. Capt. Dennis was as excited as we were about finally getting out. It was my brother's first time so he was also chomping at the bit. It was a little bumpy on the way out but we were on the grounds in 3.5 hrs. We tried to troll like many others but you needed a weed whacker there was so much sh!t floating. It had to have been from the weather in prior days. Anyways we cleaned the splitter bars for a while and Capt checked water temps. In the evening we got on the chunking and Jigging. It was calm by now and beautiful as we began to see a lot more boats get to the grounds. We had a school of at least 100 mahi swim right to the auto chunker. Unlike when I have caught them before they stuck around for 20 minutes as we continuously gaffed and re baited. Back on the chunk and jig we worked overnight. Fought 2 Makos until they chewed through our "little" 200 lb test leader we had set up on one sword rod. We did end up with one decent sword. He was foul hooked so we took our time getting him to the boat. Poor bastard was probably just swimming by lol. As day broke we moved and started marking tuna. Picked 1 long fin on a butterfly jig. Then one YFT but he was on the bigger side 85-90 lbs. We had a couple of run offs and before we knew it we had to head back. The ride in was 3 hrs of much needed sleep. We all went home with lots of meat and I can't wait for the next weather window that I can work into my schedule. I recommend Capt Dennis and the Russian Ruolette for those who are looking to fish hard and learn. You won't be sitting inside watching the playboy channel waiting for a mate to tell you to come out and reel. Capt worked hard so did Rob our mate. I will say it one more time, we had a blast and will be back very soon. I will add pics after I get them uploaded to my computer.
