Hit the CR this morning with my daughter. First cast with a jig and BAM she is hooked up and lands the first fish on the boat and the many EXTRA LARGE fish we encountered today. Her fish was the first to hit the decks, but certainly not the last. My daughter snagged on the bottom with the drift and lost 3/4 of her line. Thanks to Bill for loaning her his rod! He is a hero!
Jigging in the morning gave us ~ 5 fish and then we anchored and bait ruled the day. There was an interesting drift, but casting out resulted in hook up after hookup. One for me, 2 for her, one for me etc. The stern was a nightmare from our view! We saw some impressive spiderweb tangles with at least 10+ lines involved.:( We managed to stay clear of the worst of the tangles. Mates worked their asses off today...THANK YOU!

Been noticing a disturbing trend. That more and more of the braid users have no mono top shot. It usually goes hand in hand that they also don't know what they're doing. Do the tackle shops that fill many of these reels suggest the mono top or is it that it's just easier to do the whole reel braid? Makes for especially tough sledding when the lines are screaming off the stern.

All:
-Tombanjo has NOT noticed this "disturbing trend" on the Cock Robin. Tombanjo does not sail with us. We do not allow braid.
-the Cock Robin does NOT suggest anyone who finds themselves in a tangle while bait fishing on a party boat "...dont know what they're doing...". Rather, we clear the lines as quickly as possible and work with the offenders to educate them and work on line responsibility.
-with lines running straight back, and a full boat, we rotate anglers as best we can to give all an opportunity for a catch. We are also VERY fortunate to have an extremely unselfish consumer base who work with us to insure that even the most novice of fares has an opportunity to enjoy our sport
-Tombanjo, perhaps rather than highjacking a post, you create your own posting with your "observations" on OTHER BOATS and THEIR operational issues
Jeff, as always a pleasure having you and daughter #1 aboard again today. i can honestly say, for the first time my equipment caught fish with someone who knew what SHE was doing!

Yes Bill, you are right. Meant to start a new thread about the braid but inadvertantly tagged onto Lunktaker's post. I apologize.
