That's the perfect boat to be the new Voyager. Has to be the fastest PB in NJ.

Is it possible that the old voyager could be the new Angler? I'm sure George would love that.

are the Eble getting out of the business or getting a new boat?
would be a shame for another head boat to leave Barnegat--

That boat is mint. I don't think they'll replace that boat.

Who cares about speed? For offshore, all PB's run slow to save fuel. Period. Don't get me wrong, I tuna fish more on PB's than Privates. They all advertise 20-25 plus knots. If they are going 18 knots, you are lucky.

Wow what a shame! Loved that boat, but least its staying in NJ and we can still enjoy it! Doesn't the Eble family own like most of Viking Village? That was a rumor I heard a few years back. Ever since blues stopped showing up at the Ridge that boat has been hurting and since fluke has been shitty this year that hasn't helped either. Three PB's all fluke fishing can't be good for business out of that one marina. Was one of the most stable boats around with a hell of a captain! Yes other red boat is nice, but one on my personal chopping block! lol :rolleyes:

The white and yellow boat is better than either of those two. I've been fishing the white/yellow boat for 22 years and I can tell you it is the most family friendly of all. :)

It is a shame, this was the first PB my mom took me fishing on. I always liked fishing, but the trips on the DMIV is what converter my like into a passion.

That is a great Boat! I fished the Doris Mae for Tuna the last 18 years and every trip good or bad was comfortable. 3.5 - 4.5 hours to Hudson from BI with no problem. They re-powered with new triples about 4-5 years ago. Just an all around class operation. I can not believe they sold her. If true the new owner has one great boat!

I'm more upset about the fact that I have a 50 dollar gift cert. for that boat. I will admitt that I have had it four 4 years so my bad for not using it:eek:

Its always good to see another boat up north. I will give them a shot next summer. It will be interesting to see what they set up for as far as what species they will be targeting all summer. However, the only PB I will ride to Canyon with is the mighty relbmaG. 4500 hp 4 screws gets us on the numbers quickly and and we spend more time fishing less time cruising.

I love the white and yellow first time fishing was on that boat at 8 years old and won the pool. Been addicted to deep sea fishing ever since. If that boat were to ever go out of buiness id be heartbroken.

The Prowler is the same size 85'. Worse comes to worse Captain George can drive it in sideways.

Just got off the phone with my good friend capt Jamie of the miss Montauk. Although he is looking to upgrade and thinks the angler is a great boat for him there are still a lot of moving parts for a deal.
So it is a rumor that the angler is going east. But that's not to say she may not end up there. I for one would love to see capt Jamie end up with her. It would be a great match.

Neither one of these boats are a sponsor on this site . So why do we keep talking them up when they don't support our site. Just asking. There are a lot of head bots that post reports and contribute to the site.

The Angler is a sponsor that I fish regularly. I'm excited about the possible changes.

Most def! Lots of night bluefishing trips with friends and family, my first offshore seabass trip, etc.. etc.. etc... Didn't matter, that boat sailed with 6 guys or 60 guys! And it didn't run me over or fish on top of me when bass or wrecking fishing on my personal boat or friends boats from the area. Both the CA (white boat/red stripe lol) did and so has the MBL (red boat) which are on my no no list! Have pics to prove it.

I can certainly understand where capt74 is coming from. And don't blame him. Non sponsors should not be mentioned by name.
If it was an issue talking about the above referenced boat, the "V" and Angler who by the way is a Sponsor here. Also, hate to tell you Jeff Gutman, owns that boat too. I'm pretty sure, Gerry would of deleted this thread. Wishing them success on their new purchase.

Really Capt74?
It was news and got talked about the board on a crappy weather day. Deal with it! What next, we can't say "Gulp!" or "Yamaha" or "McDonalds" until they become sponsors? Come on man!
Wasn't the current Voyager the old Capt. Bill Van?

Thanks for the sensitivity about the non sponsor, but since this was not a shamless plug for the non sponsor boat and this seemed of general interest, I let it go.

The Doris Mae and the NormaKIII are both basically the same hull, so if you have been on one, you know how they ride. I am pretty sure they came off the Gulfport line one after the other.

That sucks! The DM is the boat that got me started on saltwater fishing. My uncle used to have a house in Ship Bottom and me, him, and my dad would go seabassing or fluking when I was 7-8 years old. First night blue fishing trip was on that boat as well. We used to fish the morning half day trip and if we did decent or werent ready to give up stay on for the pm trip as well. Sad to see that boat go but at least it'll be in PP now and that's where I do most of my fishing anymore these days.

First for the genius who posted that why mention the Doris Mae because its not a sponsor. This is the end of an industry. Its the begining of the end of party boat fishing on Long Beach Island and party boat fishing as a whole. So yes, the Doris Mae should be named, genius.
White Star is gone! Miss LBI is gone! Fox Nutt had the Captain Bill and its gone! Doris Mae is gone! Once Gina and Will get too old or tired of the business the Carolyn Ann is gone! John Larson is left us a few years ago and who know how long he Miss Barnegat Light will hang on. The bluefish are gone from the Ridge do to the hurricane. The Miss Beach Haven has a very limited schedule and how knows how long before its gone. The Barnegat Light Bait and Tackle is gone!
If the party boat business was grouped into a ETF or mutual fund and you asked your broker if you should buy it he would laugh and tell you no!!! If saltwater recreational fishing was grouped into a ETF or mutual fund and you asked your broker if you should buy into it he would laugh and tell you NO!!!
Long Beach Island is the first domino. Stripers is the next domino. 2015 Fluke and Sea Bass is the domino after that.
If you voted for Obama and you love saltwater fishing, party boats and tackle shops, you got what you wanted. This industry is over and the Obama supporters made it happen.
The Doris Mae is gone and some of you don't get the big picture. LBI is done as far as party boat fishing goes.
Change you can beleive it!!!

I don't want to get in the middle but I can understand where capt74 is coming from. I believe he is involved with the captain cal and pays a sponsorship fee to mention his boat. The DM Does not so I don't blame him for his comments. Gerry is letting it play out and that's fine, it's his website. But no reason to insult capt74, a sponsor. Once again not lookin to get in the middle but no reason to kinda get personal.
Just my humble observation.
