What do the party boat captains do when the fluke season is over? Seabass are off limits for a couple of weeks. You can only keep one blackfish. There's not enough stripers around yet. Ling? Porgies? I feel for the captains who make their livings from the fishermen and the fish they catch. Captains have to be creative but can that creativity put rods on the rails? The NY seabass season is still open but we got screwed and so did the party and charter guys. I love catching those big porgies but I can't see them sustaining the industry.

Maybe they take all the down time to run for US Senate or House of Representatives? Or move the whole fam damily, in with one already in office until they can fish for Seabass? Hell somebody has to change the rules! That just might wake them up and realize a change is severely needed!

I'm sure it will be stripers and these guys know how to find them. They're here already if you know where to look

The dollars that the captains need to support themselves come from us. I just think the closed seabass season will keep a lot of anglers at home. I can think of several fluke boats which will really take a hit until they can combine seabass, blackfish, ling and porgies into their trips. Eventually the stripers will draw more customers but until then it will be tough to put rods at the rails. Good luck to the captains and a reminder to us all that these regulations affect people who fish and those who don't as well as their families.
