Big Jamaica Report:
Space Available Thursday 7AM departure. Call for reservations.
After a tough trip Sunday night Canyon tuna fishing was very good Tuesday.
Sunday night the bite never started.
At one point a school of 15 to 20lb Mahi-mahi swam through the slick and we put a number of them on the boat.
We waited until just after sunrise but no tuna bites.
We worked some pots on the way home and caught a good number of mahi.
Tuesday we fished several pots on the way to the canyon but mahi fishing was
slow.
We arrived on the tuna grounds and there were dolphin, pilot whale's, skippies, and even some yellow fin jumping out of the the water.
We had several bites before sunset and landed a few.
After the sun went down the tuna began to feed and we caught them on and off until 4 in the morning.
Fishing was very good at times.
Most of the tuna were caught on bait and a few were caught on jigs and poppers.
Through the night we saw fish darting through the slick and splashing just
outside the lights.
It looks good for upcoming trips.
The big Jamaica will be tuna fishing right through October and unto November.
22hr trips sail 6pm Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
31hr trips sail 7am Tuesday and Thursday.
