haha! a lot of guys worked many years looking for their spots and aren't going to give them up too easily... this is called "spot burning".

you gotta look around, watch where others are and always respect their space if they are there first

usually moving tides are the general rule though and the bites turn off when the tides go slack

Deliahs Den... The Colliesum,... Fantasies.....

You can either troll each spot.. or set up on anchor and chum with singles and fives.

Catch em up. Let me know how you do.. Hope I didn't spotburn. Have some sensitive types on this board you know..;)

That's where I'd start..

Hey thanks for the responses.
Hartattack, it's the name on my boat and it's what do for a living, I don't know if you would understand..

Chrislars, I'm not spot burning.. We're not commercial fisherman here looking to make money.. I figured it would be easier to ask and try to get some help from nice guys, rather than chase the boats around and "spot burn"..

Thank you Michael for a wonderful response, I appreciate it..

Is the night fishing better than early morning right now?

Most of the people who are targeting them now are doing so at night and trolling plugs, not inside the bay but out around Sandy Hook.

This will change in the fall in the Nov/Dec timeframe when the sand eels come in. It's pretty much a daytime bite trolling and jigging with stuff that looks like a Sand eel...

As far as asking for spots, as mentioned above I'm pretty sure most will not give you specific spots here. If that happened you'd have a lot of boats fishing that area the following day.

One other thing... We have a pretty tight knit community of people here... Once they get to know you and see you contributing you'll get some PMs to give you more detailed information...

A little foreplay is in order before you start getting what you want ;)

Kilnfish - Welcome to the site..

Few questions...

Beach or boat... Plays a big part.

Equipment - Don't want to send you somewhere only to be like damn.. I dont have the necessary gear.

Day vs Night - different playgrounds bring out different methods of fishing but both produce.

Send me an private email. It's in my signature card. I don't know if you can PM yet.

We'll have you addicted to the smack in no time:D:

As far as spot burning. I'll give you an example. I was out on Sunday and when I got out I found Joey fishing my numbers, that's a spot burner:)

Just an example, I'm not sayin that ever happened

Yes that is correct. And in order to spot burn properly you have to learn the proper technique from the Shrimpman  he does it in a very professional manner. Like kind of like it was his spot all along. He has much experience in this department. :D
I'm not saying this has ever happened :p it's just an example :D

Also NJFishing should really be telling you it's a night bite pretty much. Drifting eels or sand worms is the most productive. Try the edges of the channel or just off them. If that doesn't pan out fish the channel. I like the out going tide when possible I will PM you Shrimpmans numbers

He is good and I love him to death. He can be at the helm for me anytime. I trust him with my fishing and my children any time. He is a good man. But I have to bust his balls that just what we do to each other. I'm hoping we can fish together with you soon so you can see us in person and understand us better first hand.
