We all knew leaving the dock that it was going to be a "Tough" Day after the blow for 3 days!
I had a couple of game plans in mind and went with the first one. First drift, Jimmy from Staten Island nails a 6 pound beauty (that went on to win the pool),Many shorts and a couple more keepers on that drift. Went back and tried to repeat it but No Good!
Moved to several area's, some were the fishing has been super, only to catch squat. The change of tide didn't help either as the harder the outgoing ran, the nastier the ocean became. A good swell from the East certainly didn't help us either.

Ended the day Trolling at 2.4 knots with the hard outgoing to only catch a few shorts and an odd keeper. Moe landed 3 nice fish for high hook.

PS: I tied the boat up Tuesday and Wednesday knowing that I wouldn't be able to fish the ocean.....The weather was beautiful but conditions were the shits, I could have easily taken all those customers out, stroked them and said Sorry guys, but I didn't.....So , for my friend who was the super expert today on were we should have gone and what we should have done and how next time he will spend $140 to fish on an Open Boat...You would have caught shit with anyone else today also. I would have gladly turned over the helm to you to show me what you could have done.:)
Sometimes, it ain't easy being me!

CHARTERED SATURDAY MORNING......

Don't let 'em get to you Ron. Just have to ask the guy why he isn't in the business if he has all the answers. The rest of us know you always give it your best shot! :)

Some people just don't realize how hard it can be on some days. A true angler does and will have a fun day fish or not.

That's absolutely the best reply anybody can make. Anybody who's a fisherman knows you give it your best shot & don't let a amateur get to you. It's blatantly obvious this person didn't know his as# from his elbow.

I have my own boat and dont fish with you Capt Ron, but i will say that you make more moves and go farther out and burn more fuel than any boat I see out there. A few weeks ago, I found the Fisherman way down the beach and when the fish stopped biting there, I watched you cross the ocean to the Rockaways. I wouldn't even use that much fuel in my small boat. I believe if the fish were biting, you would have found them.

Your response to the whining customer proves how much you care and try your hardest to put your fares on the fish. Some people don't get it and they never will.

was out today on a non sponsored boat out of the Highlands. He sailed with only 8 people hats off to him. Fishing was in deed hard after the blow. We only had 4 keepers all day but not for the lack of trying or burning fuel as the capt gave it a good shot. Cant stand people who think they know more then then the capt. Anyway caught a 5.5 lb for the small pool. all and all a great day. Remember the CAPT always nos best..

Not withstanding the loss of your good efforts to find fish for the appreciative fishermen on board, it would have been great to put this "genius" on the spot, over the loud speaker announce to all fairs that the genius will determine all locations/drifts for the rest of the trip and put him on the spot and held accountable for the results ......

Genius would then have to answer to all the disappointed fairs ... ha ha ... Clueless is what he is:D

Capt. Ron,

The good news is you always have lots of reasons to drink scotch in your chosen profession.....not a bad job from that point of view. Next time you have a know it all on board, take him to where he thinks you should fish and drop him off on the nearest buoy. Go back at the end of the day and see how he made out. Problem solved! Many more people appreciate what you do and the effort you put in than not. The world is full of whiners....some times you just have to break out the cheese!

Even though it can be painful, you have to laugh it off. Good to see there's still fluke around after the weather we've had this week. If anyone can find them, you will. Any update on the scumbag who untied your dock lines? I hope he's getting three square meals in the county jail!
