After having the worst week of my life, losing my mother on Wednesday.
Making funeral arrangements yesterday, I had to get out of my house today.
As many peoples mothers are, mine was always there for me in every way. She helped me realize a dream of owning a boat I could comfortable fish a little harder than my old 19', when I purchased my Sea Pro 238., seemed most times she called the conversation started with her asking if I was fishing, or heading to the boat. It brought her ALOT of joy knowing I really enjoyed owning and fishing this boat as much as possible.
So today I headed out with Tracey and Steve to spend a day out on the boat.
We ran north to the ruff stuff finding no drift at all, so kept going north to the channels.
But the water there was dirty and the drift very fast in both the SH and the Ambrose channels. so after an hour or so and only one keeper in the box we headed back to the ruff stuff.
The drift was better, even getting a little too fast when the tide and wind were together, but using an 8' drift sock we managed to put together a limit catch of really nice fluke.
We had 8 fish over 5 pounds, four of those over six, the biggest going 7#1 oz.
Steve had the hot hand and was the first to limit. Then I finished mine catching the 3 big fish on three consecutive drifts.
Was another great day on the water, but I had tears in my eyes driving home through the now sloppy south wind chop.
I can only hope that while I cant tell my mom about another great day I had , that she had seen it from above
I know she will always be there in my heart, till the day we meet again.

Dan, Sorry for your loss, old friend. I lost two good friends this week myself. Sucks.
Secondly, that is one of the nicest catch of fluke I've seen for a while. When I get back from Cape May I'll give you a call so we can finally get together and fish. -Cuz-
Very sorry to hear of your loss. I dread the day that my
Mom passes as she is the Most important person in my life
I will be devastated once that day arrives. I am glad to see that you had a close relationship with her a d that fishing bought you even closer. I am sure you meant as much to her as she did to you. She will be smiling down upon you when you Win the Pt Pleasant Elks tournament next year

Danny,
Sorry for your loss my friend and condolences to you and your family. Life is measured by what you give not what you get and from the sounds of it your mom's life was very fulfilled. The best gift we can give our parents in return is the pride and joy they raised us well and in your case I'm sure your mom is looking down a very proud and happy person.
You'll always have the years of wonderful memories you shared with your mother which will help offset the sadness of her passing. Those memories will live on with you forever. May your mother rest in peace.
Your friend
Tom

Sorry about your loss but thanks for sharing such a story. She will see it all from now on. She may have had something to do with it.
My grandfather haunts me in the best way possible and he loved fluking. 10 years later and I can't do a trip without thinking of him, and i fish every week..
Epic day.

My Mom always looks down on me. How I know. She always called me Joey and know one else was allowed. So every once in a while I can hear her voice call Joey and I know she there. I hope the same for your when your out fishing.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my mother 9 years ago. She was instrumental in me getting my first boat as well asany other things in my life. There's not a day that goes by that I don't miss her, especially now that I have a 2 year old daughter that looks just like her, but it does get easier. Congrats on the nice catch as well.

I lost my Mom on July 20, 2014 at 130pm. I know what you are going through. She was my Mom and my best friend. Since that terrible day there have been so many things I wanted to tell her. But I can't. I am on vacation the last week of October and I rented the last house on Long Beach Island that she ever rented before she got sick. I can't tell her that. I'm going to fish in the LBI Surf Tournament. I can't tell her how i do. I'm going to fish the rocks in Barnegat Light with hopes of getting my one keeper blackfish a day. Can't tell her that.
I would bring my camera and ask someone to take a picture of me with the fish I caught so I could give it to my Mom. I haven't fished in over two years. I was my mom's caregiver. Maybe you have other family to lean on. I don't. All we had were each other. Yea, there is other family in name only. Nobody helped out. It was just us. Now its just me.
I don't know your situation and I don't know you. I wish you all the best. When folks say your sorrow will subside..... It won't. It hasn't for me. Maybe it will for you. But I doubt it. Its truly the worst.
Once again I wish you the best and it seems your boat will help you. For me, its has been my bicycle. I've been riding a lot.
Take care and God bless you.

Sorry for your loss also.
The only thing I know for sure is that our mothers will NEVER die in our hearts.
Im sure mine is telling me to not cry so much , that she is fine, but seems the tears just keep coming.
We need to cherish the good times and memories,
And not be afraid to look up in the clouds to tell them how we feel when ever we have that need.
Till the day we meet again
God Bless
