I was able to get on Jeff's mixed bag trip on the Fish Monger II with an all star line up.
With questionable conditions Jerry headed straight out to the ledge of the Cockola Canyon. Right away we hooked up with some sea bass, picking through the small ones, then moved a bit for some ling. Drop, bounce and reel...good size ling too! We pulled in 110 and when the bite slowed down Capt. Jerry made the move for bonito.
Trolled a few of them then jigged and threw out some bait. Crazy amount of action with bonito, macks, alblies and a nice mahi. All on light tackle which made reeling them in a blast.
Went inshore at the end of the day looking for triggers but no one was home. Short ride back to the dock for the final count:
110 Ling 30 Seabass 60 Bonito 16 Falsies 3 Mahi and 20 macks.
All pics up on the Monger's FB Page.

Thanks again to Jeff, Capt. and Crew for a great day!

As usual another awesome day on the Monger!
Thanks Jeff and of course Capt Jerry and mates Bruce and Hunter.
Caught my 1st bonito and ended up catching like 10 of them. Fun and delicious.
Beautiful 16 lb mahi landed by DaveTats, WTG!
Awesome mixed bag, I even reeled up a squid.

Cooked up a bonito filet last night (first one for me) from the trip and the family devoured it. Ended up making 3 more on the grill skin side down with fresh herbs. 5 min at 375...d licious!
This was my 4th mixed bag target trip this year and it's amazing the different amount of fish we have inshore and offshore of jersey during certain months of the year. The captains who have the numbers for the wrecks , humps, lumps, and pallets are worth every penny of the charter fee. Jersey mates also work extremely hard (especially at the filet table afterwards) and deserved to be tipped well.
These mixed bag types of trips are great for anglers that do not want to go on overnights or day trolls to the canyons, who enjoy eating their catch and sharing with friends and family, and most importantly sharing time on the water with old and new friends.
Hats off to not only Jerry but the other captains in Jersey who target these mixed bag trips as well.
Sweet Catch guys. The Fish Monger strikes again. Great pics

This was an epic trip as tats and jimmy said! Tats had a mahi that inhaled a mullet as soon as it hit the water. Bonito we're smacking everything that we threw...bait...jigs...anything with a hook. Bent rods and lots of meat. And everyone on board had a blast. Thanks to jerry...Bruce...hunter and all the guys that fished with me on Sunday!!!

Yes the forgotten squid. Lol.
I dropped the whole bonito off at my parents so they could enjoy the sashimi :)
I grilled some of the fillets with just salt pepper lemon juice and it was delicious.
Great fishing with you again Henry!
