Well one out of two ain't bad ;)
Fished yesterday with Brother Joe, Left Reeler and Shrimpman. The plan was to leave early, troll and or pot some Mahi at the closer in Mudhole spots and then switch over to Fluking.
Winds were predicted to be out of the west in the AM but it was pretty much SE all morning. So, we decided to run as far to the SE as we intended and troll our way north and west throught pots since it was a bit too rough to do any potting.
Our trolling experience was too funny, kinda like a 3 Stooges episode. Should have taken a picuture of our ghetto assortment of rods and reels we pieced together for our trolling spread, most of which had been laying around in my garage for 20 years.
We had one mystery run off on the way back line and then a False Alby, but that was it.
One of the rods gave us a few chuckles.... I went to grab the line to put it back in the out rigger clip and snapped the last foot of the pole off. Decided to stick with it that way and went back to trolling. Drag on this pole and the rigger clip must have been set a little too tight. A few minutes later I turn my head to see the same pole dancing outside the boat and hanging from the outside rigger clip. After that we just looked at eachother, broke out laughing and said lets go Fluking....
Made the move inshore and had some decent action Fluking.... Lefty and Steve did well, me and Joe, lets just say it was not our day  I think we had 5 or six keepers and probably twice as many shorts. Lefty also managed a nice Seabass.
Fun trip though and a lot of laughs. Best line of the day....
