Crabbed the Navesink with chicken and drop lines Saturday. Not an all out slaughter but enough to keep you interested. Got 2 dozen nice Jimmies which was just enough for a nice taste.

Daughter Jaclyn steamed them up with Beer, Old Bay and Guldens and Frenchs Mustard and they were out of this world...

For those of you who want a good recipe....

Pour one beer in the bottom of a large pot

Throw crabs in pot

Sprinkle liberally with Old Bay

Douse (if that's not a cooking term forgive me :) with 1/4 bottle of Gouldens and 1/4 bottle of Frenchs mustard.

Put a lid on pot and let them steam until crabs are red. Probably 15 to 20 mins.

You will be licking your chops like I was.

I never heard of the mustard trick before.

I know it sounds kinda goofy but it works.. If you like spicy crabs you will be licking their legs and shells. Take my word for it and give it a try Rocky. I'm betting you will not be disappointed.

The yellow makes it a bit more mellow Shrimpy

That makes sense, the mustard. Should hold the old bay on, just gonna have a hard time putting beer in the pot. And not the cook.

Will try this weekend! Thanks

I imagine the crabs should get the mustard before the old bay

Yep Rich in our boat surrounded by all those Oceanic rental boats. Amazing how many people can squeeze on one boat
