Hit the jetty at 730 with the tide most of the way out. Started off on fire I caught 6 shorts on my first 8 casts. Unfortunately only one was even worth measuring and it was 17 inches. Hit a little lull as the slack tide came and caught one medium sized sea robbin which I kept. Then played with the snappers for a little waiting for the tide to move again. Once the tide started back in the bite was back on and I caught 3 more shorts on consecutive casts. Then Igot a big hit and fought what I hoped was a keeper sized fluke but it turned out to be a JUMBO sea robbin which gave the smaller one some company in my bucket. Then I hooked up with a solid feeling fish and it was a good sized fluke. Got it to the rocks and it gave a nice shake of the head which turned out to be a wave goodbye because the hook came right out as he did it ugh!! Played around with a few more shorts after that and then hit slack tide again as the tide was now all the way in. Jetty was getting crowded and I was hot and tired so called it a day at 330. In total 15 shorts 1 woulda shoulda coulda been keeper that's still swimming and the two birds. Ate those for dinner and they were deelish. I'm glad a lot of people don't keep them cuz that just means more for me lol. They were the first robbins ive caught there since late june so hopefully theyre starting to come back in although im sure many would disagree with that sentiment. Tight lines all!

Sounds like a pretty solid day reelman. I gotta say I love the robins. Everyone laughs but I give most of the fluke and seabass I catch to my boss and keep all the birds and ling for myself. Makes everyone happy and makes.for a better xmas bonus. When I get a jumbo robin im more thrilled than if its a keeper fluke haha.

Petey I fished off the T-rocks in manasquan couple weeks ago with my dad first cast for both of us we caught our keeper. At low tide if you go to the dog beach and lift up little rocks you will find the perfect size crabs to use. Good luck

I've used bait and have all fluke season long with pretty good results. In particular I've been using frozen silversides from Fisherman's Den the fluke seem to love em in the inlet. I don't know why but I've seen a lot of guys using gulp and not do very well while I bring in a decent amount of fish. Not saying gulp won't catch just in my experiences there I've seemed to do much better with bait than the guys next to me using gulp. I also have only used plain offset fluke hooks on my rigs. No spinners, beads, or skirts. I also don't move my bait a whole lot I cast a little up current and probly half way across the inlet and let the current drift my bait for me 3-4 oz seems to work the best. Then as it starts to get more horizontal to me I'll start working it back to me a little at a time, most of the fish I've caught aren't in the middle, they're close to the shelf where the rocks meet the sand which makes sense because like any fish fluke like structure. I didn't notice anyone fishing for tog, but there were two groups of spearfisherman that all got their one tog limit when they came out. Nothing big most just looked a little over keeper size but they're there. And I completely agree about the robbins I actually think they taste better than the fluke and aren't far off from sea bass. I've fished this inlet all summer usually once a week or so when I can and not to toot my own horn but ive never seen anyone catch like I have while I'm there so I think I have the technique for this inlet down, at least for this year lol. Tight lines all!

Damn!! That's a monster! Nice catch especially from land! Id be ecstatic if I got one half that size from the jetty. I'd probly jump in the water to pull a fish that size out lol atleast you had that 4 foot net and someone to hold your feet lol.
