Whelp I love this week taking my family down to lbi because I look forward to the night brown sharking off the surf. Saturday night I went 3 for 8 all of them nice fat four footers and put up a hell of a fight. I just returned from the beach (330 am) and only got 1 but a nice hefty one and had three others break free. All of them were caught on bunker with 10/0 gami and 80lb nylon coated cable. Damn I love these things! Oh yeah these sharks are on the south end of the island now guys! Good luck, stinky fingers and god bless.

I've never tangled with them in the surf. What rod/reel set up are you using? I assume the 80lb nylon coated cable is a top shot - what's your main line? Thanks.

basically over exaggerated bluefish rig. 10/0-11/0 hook I like gami octopus. I use 200lb wire leader. to 80lb mono shock leader. There skin will cut through braid. with a fish finder rig
