I just got off phone with their tourney director, Billy. He informed me that Boats must leave from ONLY Shark River or Manasquan Inlets....can't leave from Sandy Hook etc.
We were thinking of leaving from up north but obviously won't now knowing this rule. He said it will be discussed at Capt Mtg on Friday - thought I'd pass this along. Best of luck to everyone this weekend. Al

no check in ...no bullshit shotgun start = makes no sense..... never HAD to leave from there in past years.... and from what I am told there is nothing to that effect in the original paper work that has been out
on a side note..... is it rain or shine go ???

Totally agree Tom. I said same to him on phone but he stated tourney is from only those two inlets. He said he can't monitor every boat and it's honor system not to leave from somewhere else....I told him rules on back of app don't say this, he said it would be clarified at Capts Mtg....this "rule" changed our plans totally so now we have to leave from Manasquan but I guess it is what it is...

You can always try the 15 th annual Greater Saltwater Open Fluke Tournament Sat Aug 16th. You can fish out of many inlets. All the info is listed on the website. www.ozarkgso.com

I agree,if its not in the rules on the application and hasn't been a rule in the past tournaments, why change it the week of?
As long as the weigh in is still in the same places what difference does it make?

UPDATE - Billy just called me back. They have discussed and will allow boats to leave from any port as long as they weigh in BY BOAT (not car) by 2:30 at the designated weigh in stations. Congrats to the tournament team for reconvening and getting this right after hearing input from many of us. Billy said he will clarify as well at Capts meeting.
Good luck to all this weekend!
