Today we had Jimmy and crew on for a fluke trip.
Gorgeous ocean again, and again it stayed that way all day. Actually today it might've been a tad bit too nice in the early morning.
Went back where we pounded them the prior afternoon, found zero drift and just a few shorts. Bounced around, and again found shorts. We then tried some rough stuff, again, shorts.
We then made a bigger move towards the beach, and our first drop, was again just a few shorts, but a drop further down and in the shallows produced a nice 6# fluke for Cubby and another keeper. After that dried up we tried another lump up the line, and found a couple more nice ones.
Around 12:30 I got a call from my buddy who was up to our north a bit in the rough bottom, so we went up there, and finally had one real good drift with keepers and shorts and that continued, albeit the catching of keepers dried up, for the rest of the trip.
Only had 7 keepers at day's end (4 went to Jimmy), all nice quality fish, topped by Cubby's 6#er and 5#er. The rest were all 20"+ fish. Also had 1 seabass and 1 ling + ~30 short fluke. Fishing was definitely off for us today and where we've been fishing - we'll be back at it later this week after this blow.
