Had Billy and crew on today for their annual fluke charter. Gorgeous ocean early and it stayed that way all day long.
Ran to where we had them yesterday in the rough stuff, found just a few nice keepers but that was about it. Ran to a few more spots, and it was SLOW. Finally found a little patch and picked a few more nice keepers, but that ground to a halt also.
Finally found the life we were looking for LATE in the day (after a friend gave us a heads-up!) and got into a very good bite for 45 minutes -- all nice fish in the 3-5# range crushing the bucktails.
When the wind turned S, the bite stopped. Finished up with 16 nice quality keepers to 6# -- we had several 3-5#ers in the box as well as 3 nice fish right at 6#. Also had 3 seabass, 2 ling, and a chicken sized mahi.
Real good trip with a great crew!!
