Put in a full days work today. Fished from 1100 til 800 after finishing my midterms this morning. Much better action then the past few times I fished off the jetty. Wound up with 16 fluke, all short unfortunately biggest was a hair over 17 the rest weren't worth putting a tape measure to. However, the real highlight of the day was when I hooked up with a 60-70 pound cownosed ray. I've heard of people catching them but I've never had the pleasure of hooking into one before. Man what a fight! Especially on medium tackle with 20 pound test! I thought it was gonna spool me when it made the first run. After a 10-15 minute battle I got it up onto the first level of rocks next to the water. Went to slide it up the rocks onto the top of the jetty and the 20 pound test wasn't having it and snapped. I just wish I could have gotten a picture with it before it got released. Those things are no joke and it hit like a freight train so if your out on the jetty flukin hold on tight to your rod! Water was much warmer than two weeks ago too. Had a few spear fisherman show up and one popped a big old tog and a young lady shot a fat fluke probly 6-7 ppounds. Where the hell was that fish hiding all day lol?
