Had Joffrey and crew on for a charter today to target bluefish and bottom fish.
Broke the inlet at 730 and ran out to where the pee-wee bluefish have been. Real tough early as fish were spread out and just following jigs and teasers to the boat. Very few bites.
Finally got into some better fishing mid-morning and we had them on top. Had some good shots for a half hour or so and had some double and triple headers come up. We also landed one frigate mackerel on a teaser - first one I've seen in YEARS. Once that died the bite completely died so we switched over to bottom fishing.
Fished 3 pieces with limited time, the first one was very slow with just short seabass, but the middle piece was pretty good with some nice seabass and ling coming up. The last piece was simply NG!
Had a nice day with a great crew. Wound up with around 3 dozen taylor sized blues and about 15 mixed bottom fish. Biggest seabass was ~15".
