If it's possible to be cute and ugly at the same time these things are it. Accidently snagged one once with a Kastmaster spoon in Massey's casting to the fish huddled around it.

We would also often get called out for reports of a shark off the beach around Merrimack River because of these things and their big floppy fin.

Anyone know if big sharks feed off these things? It would seem hard to survive for them the way they just bask at the surface.

I've seen a few of them over the past couple of weeks less than 2 miles offshore, but not nearly as big as that one. Great pic!

had one belly up to the boat 2 years ago. I think he wanted a scratch on the belly, turned on its side and stared at us for 10 or 15 seconds arms length away. had no takers on the belly scratching lol.
