Well we did our trip today and it worked out well! We got there at 5:30, and started trolling right away. At 6:15 we hooked into our first fish on the planer board. We were in 110 fow and our lure was a small rapala floater in a natural minnow color with a 5/8 oz trolling weight. Probably running by the thermocline which was at about 22 feet. It was 90 feet behind the board and as soon as my brother grabbed the rod it made 2 nice jumps like a true rainbow should then a short fight to the net. Jaw tagged with "JOIN RVTA" and measured about 20". All this time there was nice trout chasing either bugs or minnows on the surface. Then we had a flatline out the back hit and miss which had a rapala floater jointed on it. At about 8:30 the down rigger at 65 ft hit and it was a 23" laker on a Laker Taker spoon. We then caught 2 more Lakers about the same size in the same spot over the next hour. Then in shut down until 11 when we left. Definitely falling in love with trolling this lake! All of the lake trout had shiners in their bellies but the fattest one had a 5" senko and a craw trailer for a jig in its stomach, but the bow just had bugs in it. Happy with the outcome for the second time trying there. Can't wait to get get out there with better conditions, barely any wind and bluebird skies by 9 am.
