Was bouncing a white Mister Twister around a few nights ago and for the first time ever I caught a Catfish on a jig. One feisty fella! Thoughts on the type of cat? I thought bullhead but a friend is saying a flathead.

The next day, for giggles I threw a Gulp! Saltwater molting crap on a jig head. Was bouncing it along the bottom and the rod doubles over. Channel cat. Have the video on my phone. Broke the braid at the knot.

I've caught a few cats on plastics. Most of them on Swimsenkos.

I haven't intentionally set out to catch Channel Cats all year, but I still get them anyway as 'incidental catches' when I'm using plastics.

I guess they can smell the scent-enhanced plastics and can sense the movement of the lure as well, if not better, than any other fish.

I've caught many cats on plastics as well as in line spinners and even on popers. Guys forget they are top notch predators

...as well as in line spinners...

Had one scare the crap out of me at the D&R Feeder Canal in West Trenton last night around 7. Broke my line, but I managed to grab it from the weeds on the bank and haul him to shore. He broke away with my spinner and got back in.

Cats are underrated. They are of one of the best fighting freshwater fish out there. the best part is that most waters have them and you don't need to count on the stocking truck.
