So we went out to the Hudson Canyon early Sunday and got back at 1pm yesterday.
Saw lots of life, like a million dolphins and plenty of birds, but the water was just 61 degrees. There was a temperature break another 15 NM east of us, but the guys didn’t want to run around anymore. So no tuna, we trolled from 10am till 9pm, but just one knock down.
We anchored on a wreck at 9pm and that’s when things went nuts. From 9pm till midnight (where I said time to go to sleep), we released 18 blue sharks from 6’ to 9’+. The next morning, boys wanted more shark action so we caught and released another 7 blues before heading back.
Was a good first trip offshore to shake everything down, but it reminded me, water temp is everything!
