Got to the boat with a good crew of folks. Tried bucktailing at the dock but only caught some nice seaweed while I watched cinder worms dancing on the surface. We went out and started picking at a mix of sea bass and ling. I was doing pretty well and then I got destroyed by a big blackfish that swam up with me for twenty feet and then buried me in the wreck. At least the season was closed. :D
South wind came on and the sea bass slowed. We still picked away at some inshore ling through the end of the day. I wound up with 11 sea bass and 6 ling. A father and son up the rail from me had 7 sea bass, 9 ling and a nice winter flounder. A nice sea bass won the pool and I think that gentleman had 7 sea bass and 2 ling, his English was a bit challenging so I could be wrong. Some had only a handful because the bite is still a bit light with the water temps and the damn southerly winds. The friendly neighborhood game warden was at the dock and found no violations.
Helpful tip of the day, pack more than a t-shirt and shorts for a fishing trip this time of year. We had some very cold people the last two hours of the day.
