Tough nut to crack today. Greeted by a stiff NW breeze this morning, my least favorite wind up there. Could have moved in by the rocks but decided to anchor up outside the 2nd cove, got a smallmouth there. Wind let up a bit and I went South of the eagles nest, wind seemed to follow me where ever I went. Out of there and anchored up outside the 1st cove, 2 very small lake trout there. Baits were fresh so they were very soft. I tried chumming livies, nothing. It was like someone threw the switch from on to off. I don't know if that area had heavy thunder storms last night, I read that is enough to put the fish down for a day or two. It was like fishing a completely different lake today, very quiet. Talked to a few guys at the ramp today and they said they haven't seen or heard of a brown trout over 5 pounds yet this year but they were doing well on lake trout from 10 to 12 pounds. Probably the only idiot in the State of New Jersey who takes a weeks vacation in search of a double digit brown trout. Had a great 5 days and I can't complain as the weather cooperated and I caught fish each and every day, would have nice to end on a high note though. Nice fishing there this time of year because the fish are spread out, once that thermocline sets up it gets really, really tough.

Good week of catching for you. Did you use all the Herring? This body of water is just loaded with fish and they all seem to be fat and super healthy. There's a lot of state record fish in there somewhere. :D
