In addition to the Fountain, we added a new addition to the fleet so both boats entered the Hi-Mar tournament on Saturday.
Dad and his crew met at the house at 3am to get the Fountain hooked up and to get some fuel, then off to the ramp. After about 2 hours bouncing from place to place they finally made enough bait to get out and start fishing. It didn't take long at the first stop to land a few fish but the same story as everyone else, all small schoolies. Ended up moving to a different spot for the afternoon bite landing another 2 fish to make a total of 9 fish on the day.
I had my crew meet me down at Hoffmans at 4am to get the boat loaded up and head out. As usual its never how its supposed to go, the GPS and Radar wouldn't turn on. After 30 minutes of troubleshooting we were good to go and headed out the inlet. Made our way up to the rocks in search of bait but no luck so we set up on the troll. After trolling the rocks for 4 hours and no fish we got the call from Dad in the bay about a good bite so we made the run. Still with no bait, we set up on the troll using our Tony Maja rods with Maja #4 white spoons and it didn't take long before we had 4 fish in the boat. At slack tide we took a run to net some bait and setup on the chunk for the afternoon bite landing another 8 fish to 24 lbs. All of the fish were almost identical in size so we kept them all alive in the livewell until it was time for weigh in. We kept 5 fish and the rest were released.
It was a great first trip on the water for both boats this weekend with a combined total of 21 fish.
