Hit the jetty at SRI today from 10am-4pm. Caught one short bass and dropped a keeper in the rocks both on clam. Then a lull for a few hours as the tide changed. Around 230 the bluefish blitz went off. There was probly 4-5 guys on at a time with big old blues. They were hitting everything from metal to top water, ive never seen them on top water before it was awesome watchin them blow up a lure. I got 2 myself and lost five or six in the melee all on a green A-27. A few were in the 5-6 pound class but most were 10-12 pound choppers. Once that shut down I was done for the day. Also there was a huge bunker kill up in the bay as thousands of dead ones were floating out all morning during the outgoing tide. Fish and game people were there investigating asking us if any of our fish seemed unhealthy which none were besides the bunker. Apparently this is a normal occurrence this time of year according to the officer I spoke to. Lots of free bait if u had a snag hook or long net. I took a few for crabbing later this summer lol.
