Drove down to check things out saturday. Rt 35 between PP and Ortley looks worse than last year after the hurricane. Hopefully things will be better by summer. Not much left of the burned out part of the boardwalk except the Sawmill bar. According to the people we rent from everything is up in the air between insurance co, the property owners and the town. A lot of the businesses like Kohrs moved farther down. Casino pier is full of rides and there were a lot of people down but it doesn't look like there will be fishing from the pier. Looks like a nightmare trying to get accross the big bridge to Toms River.

I do that commute 5 days a week, twice a day LOL

If you think things are bad now, you should've come through here in January LOL

The state is COMPLETELY rebuilding route 35, with brand new state of the art drainage. Sandy did not destroy route 35, but the affects of the flooding and runoff pushed the state to rebuild this highway to truly state of the art status so that if something like this ever happens again, the drainage and infrastructure will stand up to it. The entire stretch of 35 wasn't touched for 50 + years, and it took Sandy to finally allow the state to see what needed to be done.

To be honest 35 north and south through Mantoloking has been nightmarish, but it's gotten a lot better the last 2 months and it appears that they will have the 2 lane section through Bay Head and Mantoloking fully operational within the next few weeks.

Also, it's a lot easier now to go over the bridge (mathis bridge route 37) to get out to the parkway then it is up route 35 since most of the arteries going to the 35/37 merge in seaside and ortley are about 90% complete.

Seaside, basically north of where the fire was is 100%, but the re-establishment of the businesses is taking a lot longer... I did hear some of the businesses north of the sawmill were going to set up right where they were, but I also heard that might've been postponed.
