frugal,In reality i have no problem with reasonable regs, what i have a problem withare unreasonable regs. Each year by time the togs are ready to chew,ITS OVER.We need a couple weeks in may to give us a shot. Its not like we are going out to kill a hundred fish, give us a bag limit of six or even four.We dont have many options in the beggining of MAY to begin with.Fluke is closed,Seabass is closed makes it pretty tough, give us the break we need and deserve. tog should realistically be "open" may-july, September to December... Like you said this is purely ridiculous and hoping to catch tog this early with regularity in super cold, dirty water is flat-out nutzo.
well said capt

Amen to that Capt Tommy. Not looking to sink the boat. Just looking for a nice day on the water where we have a chance to catch my favorite fish. If I can bring a few fish home for the table that is a bonus.

Yep and this year when the season is delayed because of the cold water you can bet the Togs will start be bitting right around May 1 when they close the season. And like Fish Tank says, they will say we overfished.
What a crock of $hit we are being served.

I have been saltwater fishing for more than 35 years and every year I watch them screw us on regulations that are based on politics and self interests rather than legitimate scientific data. I've always observed the regulations even though I don't agree with them, but this year I will be wearing the pirate patch. I don't like to freeze fish and I only keep what I know my family and I will eat fresh and maybe a neighbor or two. Like the 2002 Leonardo DiCaprio film "Catch Me If You Can!"

I will once again take a different look at this problem... Why can you not fish for them? They are unable to be kept, limit goes to one, sometimes no keeping at all, but there is nothing saying you can not target them.
I am more then happy to go catch a ton of blackfish and not keep one of them..

Thats fine sport but you are not running a bussines.i have a bunch of tog fanatics that fish with me but how many do u think would sail without taking home a little dinner.we in the bussines love what we r doing but we have expenses such as fuel, insurance, slip ,bait and the list goes on.hope u understand my point and keep enjoying a sport that we r all fond of.stay well capt.tom
