Friday made a "search @ no keep trip" to STELLWAGEN to see what was going on. results very encouraging! first stop the shoal waters of STELLWAGEN, 100 to 120 ft. of water. using jigs and pink curlie tails we found market and scrod size cod in descent numbers feeding on blueback herring. it had been three years since the fish were on the shoals, no comm. fishing this winter must have helped. could have caught limits there but moved east to get a bigger picture. fishing in 35 to 40 fathoms using mostly fresh shucked sea clams we found cod at every stop up to 19 pounds. not much in their bellies, mostly scratching bottom. no Pollock in the mix with nine haddock being landed(brought home for dinner). based on what I saw cod limits would be met with a showing of haddock. cod limits for a charter of six would be 72 http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/bigmaccharters/ps_2012_03_05___15_41_43.jpg (http://s1226.photobucket.com/user/bigmaccharters/media/ps_2012_03_05___15_41_43.jpg.html) fish. looking forward to the 16th. pic of boat before splashing. best, capt. jim
