He already posted on FB that the boat is in the bay. I will "assume" that means he took it there.....One of the first fluke boats I went out on when I moved down here. Really liked the all day Monday trips, especially with the regulars who went out week after week.....

From FB Jamaica II

"The old steel lady, Jamaica II, has been sold and is leaving for Sheepshead Bay.
She was a winner but the time had come.
Hang with us faithful customers we plan to have an updated vessel here by Fluke/Seabass season.
See ya all soon.

My heart Sunk when I first read this. I just couldn't imagine Not fishing on Monday's with my buds, and one of them is High maintenance, not me, I think. lol But I knew if I kept reading, a answer would appear and it did. Thank You Capt. Ryan and Capt. Joe for staying in the business during these Regulatory aka BS times! Your bud, " Double D " as Capt./mate Kenny calls me.

I always wondered the history of the j2? What
Year
Was it built by who where etc. I loved those Monday marathons
And those cod marathons too! Hopefully the new boat will be fish catching machine !

I too am curious as to the age of that vessel. I have taken lots of fish over the years on that boat. It had 'personality' -great crew also. I will sorely miss the J-II. (was that a sub chaser in it hey-day?) Will love to know more from anyone who can share the folk-lore.

Let you know when we know.

Old boat was built in 1962 at Blount Marine Warren R.I. (Paramount)

That was a great boat captain! My first offshore trip was made on that boat about 20 years ago! Good luck with the new one!

I understand the Jamaica II is the oldest of the fleet, being built around 64/65? I might be wrong. I'm really sad that it's going away. I'm relatively new to the scene, and was justing getting my fluking chops together! Hoping for a worthy replacement this year! Loved the marathons, and always a great crew.
