Save the Jetties
Members of the Asbury Park Fishing Club are meeting 5 pm Friday, March 21st at the Deal Lake flume/8th Avenue jetty in Asbury Park to protest the impact of beach replenishment and the notching of jetties.
Your support is needed. Tell other concerned fishermen.

Bump to the top - see you Friday.
Whether you fish from the boat or shore, everyone should try to come out for this. They are literally burying our fishery under hundreds of thousands cubic yards of sand and when it gets washed out it buries the offshore rocks, rock piles and wrecks too - if you think places like the Shrewsbury Rocks won't be effected you are sadly mistaken. :(

I attended and I think we had a nice turnout. It was short but we got some attention from the media. Everyone who opposes the plan has to get involved writing letters and calling thier legislators. If only a few people do this we will not be able to prevent the destruction of the jetties that have been a second home to many of us diehard surfcasters.
Not a bad turnout.
We need people to call Frank Pallone's office this Monday and Tuesday 732.571.1140 and let him know how you feel. Also, the open public comment period is open until March 26th so send your email to howard.ruben@usace.army.mil. He is the project biologist on the project.
We don't need or want the groins (jetties) to be notched or altered.
