It's almost that time! A trick I do on my boat is if you fogged the crap out of the motor, keep the old plugs in there until you burn off that crap off. Then replace with fresh plugs. This way you don't foul the brand new plugs.

Will follow that advice for sure, thanks

I feel the warmth is near, doing some fun maintenance too...

On the other hand, does anyone know how much if any play should be in the shaft going into the grommet and bearings to gear case ?? Figured I'd ask here before the mechanic later ...

Wasn't especially pleased with the wear on the shaft, seams to come from the liner of the pump housing, looks like they come factory flawed in my eyes- both liners old and new look like they are not set centered on the hole- gotta love a BOAT!

Shrimpy - Yours is a 2 stroke right? If so I would reccomend with Sea Foam with the old plugs in it as well with.
It makes 2 strokes run good, like they use to could :)

There is usually a decent amount of play in the driveshaft. As long as there is no metal chunks or water in your gear oil you should be just fine. It is normal for the drain screws to have metal shavings but chunks are no good. If the gear oil is milky I would recommend taking it to a shop to have the gearcase pressure and vacuum tested to make sure the seals are still doing their job.
